Budapest Airport Closure

The Budapest Airport was forced to close at 11:50 a.m. local time because of a ground equipment failure. Inbound flights are being directed to airports in the region, including Vienna and Bratislava. The airport will remain closed to inbound and outgoing flights. The Airport Authorities anticipate the opening at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8. However, please contact your airline before heading to the airport as airport closures are subject to change. By registering, U.S. citizens make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of emergency. U.S. citizens without Internet access may register directly at the U.S. Embassy in Budapest.
