This is a continuing saga of a couple who left the US in 2001. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (MSW/LCSW) and teacher with over 25 years experience. I earned my Ed.D. in International and Multicultural Education with specializations in Second Language Acquisition and Curriculum and Learning at the University of San Francisco graduating in May 2000.
After a fruitless search for an academic position in some eastern part of the US, my partner and I gave it all up for a year of travel. We left California in July 2001 to travel the US to say good-bye to family and friends. Our plane tickets for London, our first destination were for September 14, 2001. On September 11, 2001, we were at my father's house in Long Branch, NJ. I was on an early phone call with Eurail Pass when the operator in Denver, told me he just heard on his desk radio that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. We did not get to leave until September 24th. We have lived abroad since.
