Danube Express to extend route

from Berlin to Istanbul

Hungarian railways MAV will operate a special nostalgia train next year to link Krakow, Prague, Berlin, Gdansk and Istanbul, a company official said on Wednesday.

The Danube Express will include four luxurious sleeper carriages, MAV Nosztalgia director Andras Szentey said. A test run of the service is currently under way and has already attracted much success, he added.

The company will modernise its Candle Light Express service, which operates on special occasions, including Valentine's Day, Szentey said.

MAV Nosztalgia operates around 150 services yearly, including short excursion trains to domestic tourist destinations such as the Danube Bend and international luxury services to Europe. The company transports more than 10,000 passengers yearly.
