A Slipped Disc Right Before Vacation

I am never certain whether it is the additional stress at the end of the semester or if one of my therapists along the way never totally erased my need for additional drama in my life. At the end of each semester, it doesn't matter if it is winter or spring, I manage to do some computerized gymnastics that unlike a real gymnast, has no spotter standing by.Sure, one could argue that those pop up messages "Are you sure you want to delete this file" could possibly slip by as a second chance to rethink the situation. Then the warning "Are you really, really sure you want to screw things up by deleting this file?" passes through the screen so tauntingly, it is only someone will less gumption would pay too much attention to it.

It is with this that I slipped a disc. No, not a disc in my back. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt. Days before our trip to Botswana and Namibia, I crossed my legs while sitting at the kitchen table only to pull a disc in my back. The local doctor gave me two options, but recommended them both. Go on disability and return to the US for surgery. I stayed at work, went on the trip in agony, had to have Ron dress and undress me, but I had a blast.

This time is was Windows 7 that slipped its disc. There is no tirade about Windows vs Apple. This was entirely human fault. While deleting a program I no longer wanted, I unintentionally deleted more files than computerly possible, creating a disaster. In the process, I managed to mess up the files that control any Undo options, System Restore, and anything that may have saved my butt. At the moment, the only programs that works are my browsers and e-mail. Not one program functions.

I have finally made a science out of this. After school, I will start the reformat process and reinstall as many programs as I can before leaving for the last of the year Creativity Group meeting. As my computer repairman says, "You know enough about computers to really screw any of them." On a positive note, each time, I get a little smarter.
